The City of Negaunee (“City”) will receive sealed bids/proposals at the City of Negaunee City Clerk’s Office, 319 W. Case St, P.O. Box 70, Negaunee, MI 49866 until September 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. for residential curbside solid waste collection and curbside pickup of recyclables within the Negaunee City limits for five years commencing January 1, 2021. Qualifications of the bidder to provide the service must accompany the bids. Bid awards will be based on the recycling program proposed, price, past experience and references from at least three customers, quality of equipment proposed to be used, and compliance with bid specifications. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
A five year contract is using the attached Agreement further incorporating these specifications will used. In the event of conflict, these specifications will control.
There are approximately 1,800 -billed customers. The number of customers will be determined solely by the City as of December 31st of each year. The contractor shall be paid a fixed monthly fee based on this number of customers for the following year. It is understood the number of customers will fluctuate during the year. This change in the number of customers will not affect the monthly fee paid to the Contractor during the calendar year.
The cost per customer pickup must be bid and identified for each of the five years covered by the bid. The bid price for each year shall be firm for a twelve-month period beginning January 1st of each year.
The proposal shall also include a detailed description of the contractor’s customer service protocol.
Hours of pickup shall only occur during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Every Tuesday of each week.
The contractor shall identify and specify its collection vehicles, along with the age, model, capacity, type, and any special equipment, which it proposes to use under this contract. No reduction in the number of collection vehicles shall occur during the term of this contract.
