Negaunee Public Library

Welcome to the Negaunee Public Library

The library has begun its reopening plan! Phase 1 is “Minimal Contact Curbside Services.” The dropboxes is open and patrons can return materials. Patrons can also call or email the library to arrange a time to pick up items curbside.

Staff will wear masks and gloves, and place your items in your trunk or an empty passenger seat if it’s raining or snowing, or if you are unable to walk from your car. If you are on bicycle or foot, or are able to walk from your car to the building, we will place your items on a book cart at the bottom of the handicap ramp, and allow you to pick up your items.

Negaunee Public Library items are available, including daily newspapers, all magazines, and the “Watts Up?” power meters. Interlibrary loaning is available from most U.P. libraries, but not through MeLCat.

You can also request tax forms, free summer reading kits, and free bookmarks.

All online services will still be provided. Library staff are also answering the phone during normal library hours, at (906) 475-7700 ext. 18.

Please wash your hands, wear a mask and keep six feet (social distancing) between yourself and people not in your household when you must leave the house, and stay safe.

Summer Reading Programs

The Negaunee Public Library’s Summer Reading Programs begin Monday, July 6! There’s something for all ages.

Children age 3 and up can register to participate and pick up a reading log to track the time they spend reading, as well as a free book and kit of his or her choice (Google Form to choose a book: Click Here ), on or after July 6. Every child who completes his or her reading log by Saturday, August 15, will receive either a certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut in Ishpeming.

The program for tweens and teens (grades 5-12) will be similar to the children’s program, but teens can set their own reading goals. (Choose a book through the link above!) Every tween or teen who completes his or her reading log by Saturday, August 15, will receive a certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut in Ishpeming. There will also be a competition for who reads the most pages, with cool prizes at stake! The drawing will take place on Monday, August 17.

Adult patrons may fill out a slip with their name, phone number, and the book or audiobook they read to enter a drawing for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
